Tony Oldfield returns to talk to us in more detail on offshore engineering. Mega Projects in over 1500 meters water depth take up to 10 years to develop from discovery to production and involve capital spending of billions of dollars. The combination of technology development, engineering excellence and top rate project management practices are essential elements in the delivery of a safe, on-time, on budget outcome with no damage to the environment.

The talk will address important engineering concepts and the advancement of key technologies necessary for the progression of such developments by comparing two actual projects as well as sharing some fundamental lessons learned.

Tony Oldfield is a Registered Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical and Civil Engineers. As Project Director for the Major Energy Companies involved in the Projects described he was accountable to Executive Management, Field Partners and Host Government Regulators for their delivery. Tony was born in Barrow and is now semi-retired and lives in Grasmere.
