BDAE Press Release: Power System Monitoring in Critical Applications

Gareth Brunton will present an overview of power system monitoring in critical applications, drawing on his own career journey and the evolution of Bender as a leader and pioneer in electrical safety. The talk will highlight the importance of resilient power monitoring in sectors where operational availability is vital, with real-world examples from healthcare, rail, E-mobility, and maritime environments. Attendees will gain insights into both the technological advancements and real-world challenges involved in safeguarding critical infrastructure.


Gareth Brunton BEng is Managing Director of Bender UK, having joined the company as a commissioning engineer in 2004 and progressing through several engineering and leadership roles before taking on his current position in 2016. With an electrical engineering degree and an early career that included an apprenticeship at VSEL (now BAE Systems) and roles at British Steel and Kimberly Clark. Gareth has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of Bender UK, driving operational excellence and innovation. He has played a key role in expanding the organisation’s electrical infrastructure monitoring and healthcare portfolio, ensuring resilient, compliant power systems in critical industry sectors. Established in 1997, the Bender UK regional head office and demonstration facility is in Ulverston, Cumbria, with other facilities based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire and Lisburn, County Down.
