G.W.WAITE, ULVERSTON, VISIT


On May 20th, 2004 BDAE visited the G.W.Waite factory in Ulverston. The Company makes sheet metal pressings and members were able to see recent press aquisitions in action and some of the older presses which are still giving excellent service. The range of items manufactured is large as is the number of customers and countries to which they are sold. One or two items are well known to all, the mop head attachment and the metal rod with two flat ends which operates virtually every Squeegee mop that is made, which comes in a variety of sizes to suit the various models in manufacture.

The Quality Control required by customers for certain parts made for the Motor Trade for instance is remarkable and automatic measuring equipment of great sophistication is in use to ensure that on the mass production lines of the automotive plants there will be no delays due to innacurate components.
